    My Response to US Elections

Here's the flavor of most international commentators regarding yesterday's US mid-term elections:

US midterm election results that heralded a massive power shift in the American political landscape were greeted with jubilation around the world.

From Paris to Pakistan, politicians, analysts and ordinary citizens said they hoped the Democratic takeover of Congress and the departure of defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld would force US President George Bush to adopt a more conciliatory approach to the globe's crises, and teach a president many see as a "cowboy" a lesson in humility. (From Ireland Online)

What bunk. The drivel being carried by international media sickens me.

By now you know of course that there is little difference between Republican and Democrat. The Democrat win will no doubt cause many to heave a sigh of relief and go straight back to their slumber while the real power behind BOTH Democrats and Republicans continue their push for globalization.

The win will change nothing, except perhaps to accelerate changes already in place. My bet: not a single policy will change during this new term. Do not be fooled by the elation expressed worldwide. Listen instead to an audio commentary on the election results by Fintan Dunne.

    International Reaction to US Elections

"A cycle has ended. The cycle of pre-emptive wars, of unilateralism, ends in great failure. This is the truth that is becoming clear also to the American public. A new cycle must begin and I think there is a great responsibility for Europe." - Massimo D'Alema, Italian Foreign Minister

[Ed: Do not believe for a minute the cycle has ended. To me the call for a new cycle simply means a radical acceleration, with Europe possibly taking a leading role.]

"Of course, the citizens of the United States are humans with a conscience. It's a reprisal vote against the war in Iraq, against the corruption within the Bush administration. All this fills us with optimism." - Hugo Chavez , Venezuelan president

[Ed: At the risk of offending some, the vast majority of US voters have absolutely no personal conscience: they voted purely based on opinions created by the media in the run-up to the elections. If they had understood the real issues, they would not have participated in the sham vote.]

"A lot of Americans have realized that Mr. Bush has lied to them." - Laurent Fabius, former French prime minister

[Ed: To single out Bush as the only liar in the US, or even the Western world, is a faux pas which should be recorded in the annals of political bloops. We are so awash in lies right now, it's nigh on impossible to believe ANYone.]

"The message of the American people is clear -- there needs to be a major change of direction on Iraq. Just as in Britain, people in the U.S. feel that they have been ill-advised, misled, and ignored. These election results have not only damaged Bush, they mean that (Prime Minister Tony) Blair is now totally isolated in the international community." - John McDonnell, candidate for the Labour Party leadership

[Ed: Again, this is rhetoric to continue the farce that citizens actually have a voice when voting. When the options are controlled, we have no free choice whatsoever. It's like being forced to choose from a display of vegetables, when all I really want is an apple.]

"The foreign policy of George Bush is wrong. And Mr. Harper had better be listening because I believe Canadians were frankly already ahead of the Americans in reaching these same conclusions." - Jack Layton, NDP Leader

[Ed: Profound. If Canadians were ahead, they would no neither Bush nor Harper are the real culprits.]

"(The vote was) the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world.'' - Statement signed by more than 200 Socialist members of European Parliament

[Ed: It's my belief we ain't seen nothing yet...]

    A Heart-Warming Video

On a much-needed lighter note, a video appeared recently of a man in Sydney giving free hugs to passers-by. Serial hugger Juan Mann describes the free hugs he hands out...as fast-food emotion. His cuddling campaign received an international dose of publicity today, after a clip showing his public displays of affection won a coveted front page spot on the video sharing website, YouTube. An American television audience of millions also watched him at work, when the video was broadcast on the prime-time breakfast program Good Morning America recently. But his efforts to spread the love became a little too popular for some people's liking, according to a blurb on the YouTube video, which said: "As this symbol of human hope spread across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED." Undeterred, Mann collected more than 10,000 signatures on a petition he presented to the City of Sydney council. Demands for a halt to the hugs petered out shortly after, and the end of the clip shows Mann hugging an official. City worker Elly Mitchell, who handed out a few free hugs on her lunch break today, said she was inspired to organise [an] event after seeing the video online. "We're going to hug the city," Ms Mitchell said. Watch the 5 minute video here.

    The Twist

But getting back to the point of police officials stopping this behavior, which occurred in Sydney, Australia. It's long been my belief that Big Brother antics are tested in Australia, implemented in the UK once proved successful, and finally introduced into the US. This has been true of such diverse incidents like Mad Cow Disease, Avian Flu and closed circuit cameras in public places. Do your own research - it's true.

If this trend is accurate, we need to be particularly wary of military operations planned in Australia for May/June. If successful, similar operations could well be implemented in the UK and US. Alternatively, the troops who take part could be used as UN soldiers in far-flung corners of the globe.

Here are the details from David Bradbury, an Australian documentary film maker:

Next May/June will see Australia host the largest military exercises we've ever had in peacetime. Talisman Sabre 07.

Twelve thousand Australian soldiers and nearly 14,000 US troops and sailors will take place in bombarding our shores and fragile landscape, storming our beaches, gunning down 'terrorists' in the newly built urban guerilla warfare training centre, testing their latest laser guided missiles and 'smart' bombs in some of the most pristine wilderness I've ever seen on this planet - and in 30years of making films, I've seen a lot of this planet.

Idyllic Shoalwater Bay near Rockhampton will cop it all - live aerial bombing, ship to shore naval firings, underwater depth charges exploded in areas where turtles and dugong breed, nuclear subs using high level sonar frequency which zaps the hearing of sea life and mammals, nuclear aircraft carriers inside the so-called Great Barrier Reef marine national park (!), land based artillery firings blasting the hell out of areas where the most amazing biodiversity in Australia is to be found. (Shoalwater Bay covers 740,000 hectacres and is almost unique in our climatic landscape because it is a cross over point for tropical, sub tropical and temperate zones giving rise to an amazing variety of many species of flora and wildlife, birds, sea creatures etc).

Anyone who has seen Al Gore's film has to ask why are we allowing such madness to take place and wanton misuse of resources to further add to the huge level of CO2 put up into the atmosphere in exercises such as these at a time when we all should be combining forces in the War for Our Survival.

These live munitions actions at Shoalwater Bay will run simultaneously with US bombing runs by Stealth, B1 and B52 bombers (just one B52 bomber carries 30 tonnes of bombs -needs three semi trailers to load it up with its bombload...) from Guam to drop their live payload from 5 kilometres high on Delamare bombing range near Katherine NT and live fire exercises involving many Abrams tanks rumbling across the landscape at Bradshaw tank range (surrounded by Bradshaw national park south of Darwin, target practising on country against the wishes of the senior Aboriginal elders, custodians of that country...).

These military exercises and their coordination in both states will be beamed live via satellite from tiny cameras on the tanks, bombers, landing craft, army commanders' lapels etc to the coordinating War Room at Newcastle where the US and Australian generals will call the shots of what is fired next. Son of Star Wars has arrived in Australia!

Next year's Talisman Sabre exercises are a con for blatant continuing militarism of a similar vein post Afghanistan and Iraq. We are now about to pollute our own most pristine areas, far away from the centres of population by letting the US military test their latest weapons here

There are big plans by British Aerospace and the other arms manufacturers to quietly turn the depressed Rockhampton area into a big arms manufacturing industrial estate. So not only will we export our soldiers who are the best there is to adventurist wars overseas, we are about to see an explosion in Australia manufacturing and exporting weapons of war.
