Independence Day Celebrations

The concept of independence can be grasped when its antonym is carefully thought about i.e. dependency. Dependency has many forms for e.g. political dependency, economical dependency, cultural dependency and the greatest of all, dependency regarding thought. Thus any person or place can be independent when it is free from all forms of dependencies.

Generally the concept of independence is exhibited from a political perspective. Different theories of independence exist with various religions, ideologies and organizations. Some feel independent by being a part of some ruling authority, even if the authority is dependent upon commands of others. According to some, democracy as compared to Marshal Law and Kingdom is the real independence for people.

While the true concept of independence explicates that every issue whether it is political, economical, social or cultural should be independent from the regulations and mandate of everyone other than Allah and the whole authority should rest with Allah Almighty only. No one can achieve true independence unless this concept becomes the foundation of life and a keystone in politics. The true concept of independence shatters all the statues of self-admiration and Nationalism and the people become subservient to Allah and His commands. When Allah is held as the final ruling authority (and that is indicated by the implementation of laws of Allah in the society), only then it is that the people become independent from the dependency and enslavement of people who are like them. Otherwise it is all dependency and captivity.

Have a look at the celebrations of Independence Day going on in Pakistan. Depraved politicians, nationalists and uneducated philosophers of religion are implanting a false notion of independence in the minds of people by utilizing their religious spirit. More than half a century has lapsed, but the law is still the law of "Taghut" (other than what Allah has revealed). From where would the blessings come from? National wealth is being spent upon the centers of devastation i.e. indecent media programmes etc. to degrade not only the decency of Muslim women but their religion too. The culture, imagination, films, etc all portray dependence. Open war against Allah and His apostle has been proclaimed by not quitting the system of "Riba" (interest on money) and by involving in various forms of gambling tactics. Corruption and misconduct is to such an extent that Pakistan is now ranked in the group of corrupt countries of the world. Even sports are not an exception.

Then what are these celebrations for? USA can fire cruise missiles over Pakistan's territory at her own will. Is this Independence? Western influences can dictate to Pakistan anything they want. Is this Independence? Does independence only reflect one meaning, that Pakistan is now a separate country and Pakistanis do not have to live with Hindus and Britishers anymore. Well if this is the concept of independence then I am afraid that this criteria is totally absurd. For as the law of this country is still the British Law and if not then at least this much is obvious that the puppet ruling regimes still shake their tails with obedience in front of their western masters. As far as living with Hindus is concerned, it does not make much difference if the beliefs and cultures are the same. The Hindus believe in worshipping idols made of stone and many people in Pakistan worship the dead saints in their graves. Regarding culture, one can attend a wedding function in Pakistan and can comprehend that there is more resemblance with Hindu culture than Islam. Indian film stars even do charity programs in Pakistan. Indian films and posters are innumerable. The civilians and the army both are equally involved.

If this is the situation then why did Pakistan need independence? The whole problem of peace in Southeast Asia is based upon the relationship of India and Pakistan. If they can live the same life style in two different places then why is it that they are unable to achieve this at one place. And if dependency still exists then what is the point of celebrating and spending millions for nothing?

Has not the time come for destruction of these statues of subjugation? or has not the time come to apprehend true independence? Surely the time has arrived to give up the political slogans, law of "Taghut" and everything that displeases Allah Almighty. Instead of adoring Nationalism, the time has come now to turn towards Allah and His law and be subservient to Him (Allah) Alone and quit the reverence of everything else. This is true independence and all other tracks lead to enslavement, subjugation, captivity, confinement and dependence.

The choice is still available, and incase it is not availed, one must understand that this night is another dark night of dependence and slavery and not of celebrations and independence.

" Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah) to be affected by Allah's Reminder (this Quran), and that which has been revealed of the truth, lest they become as those who received the Scripture (the 'Taurat' and the 'Injeel') before (i.e. Jews and Christians), and the term was prolonged for them and so their hearts were hardened? And many of them were Fasiqun (the rebellious, the disobedient to Allah) " [Al-Quran 57:16]
